Shift knob/rear diff. question
Shift ****/rear diff. question
Hello all, I have a pair of questions. First off, anyone can vouch for the part # for the stock 6 speed shift **** for my 95 Z28. I was told 12562940. Also, anyone know how much this is from the dealer? Is it one of those parts that cost $60 or so? I laugh when I hear people say " don't buy a Honda. Parts for foreign cars are expensive" HA
Question number 2. I got a rear built rear a few seasons ago. I have noticed that ever since, it hums when I let off the gas. I thought after break in it would cease, but it's louder than when it was new. What is going on? Thanks for reading

Re: Shift ****/rear diff. question
the shift ****? You could probably get one from someone that converted to a short throw for cheap
the rear end... it sounds like the backlash is set too loose. Take it somewhere so they can check and swap shims around to make it right.

There's 2 choices for the factory **** for a '95:
plastic ... 10150052
leather ... 14089466

Thanks for the answers. I was gonna ask would synthetic diff. oil help with that howling. Since it has too much backlash, that woul;d cure nothing.
As far as the shift ****. I'm considering the classic Hurst ball. I have a Billet Plus shifter. The NHRA comes to Maple Grove in afew weeks. In years past, the Mr. Gasket truck on great deals on those. So I shall wait and see. Thanks again .
