Shaking like a SOB

So at idle and low rpm driving (2.5 grand), the car shakes so bad that the passenger seat starts wobbling all over the place making all kinds of noise. Anyone have any recommendations for fixing this (and interior noise in general)? I would think the drive shaft is the place to look but I could be wrong.

thanks!

Sounds possibly ignition related. The driveshaft is not going to be a factor at idle.

You probably have a plug that is fouled or a sparkplug wire bad or maybe an injector is not working.....so yeah, like shoebox said. possibly ignition related.

I dunno im going with his idea of the driveshaft here guys. Mine does the same things but im thinking its caused from me driving with a broken tranny mount for a few months.

How can the drive shaft cause shaking at idle? The car is barely moving at idle if in gear or not moving at all in park. If the car is not moving, the driveshaft is not rotating.

Re: Shaking like a SOB

Hey guys,
I gotta bring this thread back because the problem has gotten worse. My plugs and wires are all somewhat new.
The shaking is not while I'm sitting at the light, its when I slightly push the gas to take off from a stop in 1st gear. (I dont mean TAKE OFF!, I just mean regular driving from a stop). As soon as I get going 10mph+ she shaking stops, but that first 10mph is so hardcore I think its gonna vibrate bolts loose.

Thanks guys!

My '96 Z28 is doing the same thing as you describe and I am 98% sure that it is from broken motor mount(s). I am replacing my motor mounts in the next week or two with some poly units from energy suspension and will let everyone know if that cures the problem. I am taking it that you have a 6-speed and the shifter shakes pretty good too. Good luck, and let us know what the problem is.

Don't assume something is ok because it is "somewhat new". When troubleshooting you can't rule things out just by assuming they are ok.

You TTT this, but don't say what steps you have done to eliminate possibilities. This makes it appear like you have ignored any suggestions so far and are waiting for a suggestion that you find plausible to pursue. It's been almost 3 months since the thread was posted. What have you checked?

I agree with Shoebox we can't help if we don't know what you have ruled out.
However with your last post ,I think I would start with checking the Trans mount, the motor mounts, then the front U-joint,and work your way to the rearU-joint as long as your changeing one do them both. Also check your Torqe-arm bushing.

I don’t think I explained this well enough. After the problem had already been going on, I replaced all the spark plugs and wires, so I know it’s not that, which was the main suggestion from the first time around.

I had the same problem a couple years ago, and changing the plugs and wires did nothing for me either. It ended up being a fuel injector for me. You didn't say if you checked those, so if you haven't, I'd check that. Got mine changed, and she ran fine.
