SES Light Check?

Looking for a place locally to get my SES light checked on my 1994 Trans Am? Is my best bet to go get it scanned at the dealer? If so any idea what that might cost me?

I work at autozone and none of our scanners will work on my car. I even went to my friend's work up at Firestone and their scanner was messed up too. I think there is a special way to pull the codes on this OBD1 that I have.

You are right, Auto Zone cant pull codes out of our OBD1 cars. I have a scanmaster and couldnt imagine driving my Z28 without it, $250.00 well spent, it tells me codes and helps me trace down problems, if you run into a complicated problem Freds scanmaster write up helps a lot http://members.aol.com/InjuneerZZ/ScanMast.htm or if you cant figure out problem after reading that, post the readings on this board and someone will help you out. Going to buy a scanmaster soon for the T/A also.

Sticking a paperclip in the upper right 2 terminals (A=Ground / B=Diagnostic test terminal) on the ALDL socket worked for me According to my Haynes manual this "works on 93 and some 94 vehicles". Though, I seem to remember doing this on my 95 also...maybe not...my memory is really....what was I talking about again?

thats not gonna work on a 95 and should not work on a 94 unless it's a late production 93. your going to need a real scanner at a real shop or the dealer to san it.

I ended up finding someone in the WTFBA club here in town to scan it. It ended up being the MAP sensor which has now messed up again because it hits my STB when the engine rocks and the sensor cracks in half. Is there anyway to relocate this sensor?

You could try solid or Poly mounts, that should stop the rocking.

The Scanmaster I bought is by far the best money I've ever spent on my car.
