SES discontinued!!

thanks for the number shoebox, but when I brought the PN to the GM stealership they said that bulb is discontinued...? I dont see how GM could discontinue that part so are there any substitues for it or do I have to find a used one or somin? the parts guy said he might be able to figure something out if I brought him the bulb but tearing my dash apart in his parking lot wouldnt be fun.

You should be able to buy the PC161 bulb a lot of places. I've seen them all over the internet. BTW, I double checked the parts number before posting and according to gmpartdirect, the number was still good.

Autozone $2.99 for a two pack.
If I recall, 161s can be interchanged (though I wouldn't unless you absolutely can't find one) with 194s, they're just a different wattage rating (something like 2.8 vs 3.2). You ought to be able to get ahold of 161 unless you live in the middle of nowhere.

[edit]
Shoebox's site shows a PCB bulb, which you're supposed to replace the whole assembly, but I think the wedge bulb just pops out regardless... could be wrong, though.

It would be a lot cheaper to mail order something than drive 2 hours anywhere.

how true I threw another $65 in her today, but its only on the road for a few months out of the year so I take any excuse I get to drive it anywhere.
