Seriously considering an 98-02 Camaro
Hello, I am getting tired of the persistent problems of difficult maintenance and poor cooling of my 1994 Z28. I am considering getting a 98-02 Z28 or SS Camaro.
Though before I get into another Camaro, I want to know the good, the bad ,and the ugly about an 98-02 Z28 or SS Camaro. I have heard some have piston slap at times, and other assorted things. I would like to get an automatic transmission and a hardtop.
What I am asking is I would like to know any consistent problems that these cars have that I should know about. Is changing spark plugs simple or suicidal like the '94? Is there a specific year that is better than the others problem wise? Or anything else really helpful that I should know going into these years.
Any help you guys can lend would be great!
Thanks!

Re: Seriously considering an 98-02 Camaro
99-02 are the better years, they made the minor changes after 98 to improve the faults that always occur with 1st year of new designs. There are really no problems with them, I mean the interior still will rattle/squeek over time but other then that they are great. Plugs aren't to bad to do on them but you shouldn't be doing them often enough to not buy a car because of that.
Re: Seriously considering an 98-02 Camaro
I believe they still have the same stupid window motor and most have the rear pinion seal leak like most 4th gens. Only other caution I can think of is the (SS) Auburn rear end, and this is only a problem if not maintained properly.

Thanks for your guys' help, but I know there are more of you out there. Please help me out here, I would like to know some more inside information about these cars.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Sorry to bring this back up again, but I have heard things about the piston slap problem and oil burning issues. Can anyone elaborate on their experiences?
Thanks!
Thanks!
