Security light...how urgent?
Hey all. I did searchs on this on all the boards on this topic and know the basics.
Basically, I started up my car today and noticed the SECURITY light was on. I had a couple short trips and left for lunch earlier...light is still on and no problems starting the car.
I know this means my car isn't being protected (which I'm not too worried about) but I read that eventually I won't even be able to start the car (or was that in a different situation?).
I just now got back from my vacation and don't have any free time to take it in for about a month or so. How urgent is this...in terms of before this prevents me from actually starting my car.
Thanks all.

The security light in my 96 V6 camaro has been coming on and off for 2 years now with NO problems at all...ever.
I hear it is a short in one of the wires in the steering column or something, I dunno. The car starts and its all good, so I haven't worried.

Too early for me to say if it will turn off or not since it just turned on today.
I know I need to get it fixed sooner or later...I just need to know if I can put it off until I have some time or if I need to get it fixed before she won't start for me.
Of course, the problem just happend AFTER I got off my one week vacation.
