Runs good at times (Need Help)

My car is 92 w/350 tpi with minor mods. It will run fine for awhile. Then the service engine light will just start flashing rapidly. I can shut the car off, but if the key is on my regulators are clicking and the fans flicker on and off. It will start again but acts like injectors are not firing correctly or timing is off; cannot figure it out. Can let it sit for a couple weeks or month and it will fire up and run fine for awhile but then it starts doing the same thing; sometimes after an hour of driving or sometimes after a couple days of driving. Have checked all grounds over and over. Cannot get codes out of it because it dont set any. Any advise would be greaty appreciated it is driving me crazy. Thanks!!

Re: Runs good at times (Need Help)

if the SES light comes on,there is a code/codes in the computer.

use a paper clip and connect the top 2 terminals on the ALDL connector (right about drivers right knee) with the key on. it should flash code 12 three times, and then start the diagnostic codes.

a code 12 would look like this... FLASH..FLASH FLASH...FLASH..FLASH FLASH...FLASH..FLASH FLASH.

if it doesnt give u the code 12,than the computer is messed up and wont enter diagnostic mode.

sounds like a wierd problem, hope this helps out...let us know!

When the SES light flashes on and of it is usually a circut or computer problem.

- Computer plug loose
- PROM chip loose
- Faulty power/ground to computer
- Bad computer

Check your grounds...sounds like its got to be something electrical. Next nice day Id sit next to it with a Haynes or Chiltons wiring schematic and start checking.
