Rotten Egg smell from exhaust??

I know this is caused from the catalytic converter(s) but what exactly does the smell indicate?

I notice it if I drive a short distance around town in my pickup of which I have only owned for a couple weeks now... 55,000 miles on it. Does this mean the cat(s) need replaced or is this natural. None of the other vehicles Ive owned in the past seemed to smell this way and the Z28 hasnt had cats for several years now.

likely means your cat isn't working right or isn't there . . . if I'm not mistaken there's a long warranty period, like 8 years or something, for cats (at least from GM) so depending on age and mileage you might be able to get replacements under warranty

Sometimes it is normal because the Cat did not get hot enough. Drive it until it is hot then check it.
