rivet size for power window motor?
I just bought a power window motor for my '81 z28 from Autozone but it did not come with any hardware. The box's picture says that its an original equipment remanufactured motor. What size pop rivet will I be needing to replace the old ones once I drill those puppies out?
I was thinking about using nuts and bolts but the bottom hole doesnt go all the way thru the back side, so I guess i'll have to rivet it back in. I havent even had a chance to pull the old one out yet but I should have time from work this week to do it.
Any ideas on the rivet size would be great guys. thanx

The motors from autozone should have come with hardware. If not, it's not a big deal. A 1/4" bit should drill it out, and I'd just go with nuts/bolts, that's the hardware that comes with most motors... it makes things so much easier.

I thought about using nuts and bolts but like I said, the motor has 3 holes much like the original since its a remanufactured from autozone so the bottom hoel does not go all teh thru to the backside. If i bolt it, it will only have two bolts holding it on. Will that be sufficient or should I just use 1/4 " rivets to hold her into place?
It's weird that only two of the holes go through. Personally I dislike rivets, but to each his own. I agree with the fact that you should use all mounting points... could you drill out the third hole in the motor and use nuts/bolts, it would probably save you trouble in the long run.

I wish I had a digital camera to take some pics of what I have. It basically is a rebuilt/ remanufactured motor of the original one if you can picture that. The round piece at the bottom of the actual motor rectangle part ( where the bushing and copper wires are) is a cover for the gear on the window mount from what Im imagining. That round piece has 2 holes ( threaded) on top and a 3rd threaded hole on bottom but that is the one that doesnt go all the wat thru since there is something behind it.
The pictures / walk-thru seems to be for z28's after '81 as my inner door panel doesnt look like what is in the picture. Also, mine is actually mounted at the bottom door lip where the pictures seem to be mounted a little higher. If i was to drill a hole for teh bottom rivet liek in the walkthru it would be at that bottom lip of the door.
I have a Chiltons manual but that is very vague so i ordered a Hanses manual for '81 camaros, hopefully that will have a better walk thru unless someone here has done this on a '81 or earlier.
