is this a rip off?

1998 navy blue metalic Trans Am Convertible, tan top, tan leather, 32k miles. automatic transmission, NOT a WS6, has power seat power windows power mirrors power door locks, stock chrome wheels.

Its at a dodge dealership, and they were asking $13,988
I drove it and spend 1/2 hour talkin to them and got it down to $13,300 out the door but i still think it's too much.

what should i pay for this car? everything works and its pretty much mint.

thanks

KBB.com puts it at about $9700 in Perfect condition from a dealer. give them a print out and then say "lets talk". $13,000 can get you a nice 4th gen.

Their price is still a little more then what the KBB is asking. I would chew them down some more or consider other cars. The only thing though to is that car as you mentioned is in pristine condition and the mileage is very low. That right there may be worth some extra cost to some people.

Yeah, Black Book lists it for $9,500 with a clean price of $11,500 for retail.

Get a print out from KBB and talk 'em down more.

when i pll the kbb.com suggested retail its tellin my 13,315 with 32k miles leather and prem wheels, not 19" +.

where are you guys lookin thats sayin 11,500?

i told them from the beginning i'd take it for $12,000 out the door with all fees and taxes included. its just a waiting game now, with the weather here their not going to be selling the number of cars that they need to.
where do i get black book value?

i know they had to rip the person who traded it in a new *** hole. might have gave him 7 or 8 grand.

thanks

The blue book suggested retail value I found was for 13,100. Maybe the above poster was looking at a trade in value or private party value?

i have an actual dealer blue book. excelent condition its 12,00 from a dealer, plus options and low miles. i know i can still get them down a few hundred more easy.

ill try to get 12,500 out the door, i'll tell them ill pick it up monday.

i think its worth that much
also, i didnt see a boot for the car, i checked the trunk and it wasnt there. was it an option or maybe the guy who traded it in forgot it.

The boot was standard on all ragtops. Replacing it will cost you a pretty penny if it has been lost. There is one on Ebay now for $200

I'd hold out for a 6-speed WS6 car, personally.

good trick on this one.. call up the delarship as if it is a ranodm call and ask if they have an "older trans am with low miles" .. they will say hold on let me look through my invertory and come back with the car and say it is listed as the $13900 you wrote above.. then say hang on a sceocnd .. make some noise picking up some paers and whatnot.. then sat well KBB is askign $9700 and what is the lowest you can sell this car for..

alot of the times they will actaully give you the lowest price they really can sell it to ou over the phone to get you in the door.. if you go to the delarship just kind of lookin.. diffrent ballgame

If the others are using the KBB online, I believe they used their own zip codes in the process.

The actual book is worthless before the next update comes out as well...
