We are looking to replace the Floor pans on a 68 Camaro Conv. We were hoping to get an idea of what to expect to pay to have a reliable shop do the work.

That being said there's not enough information in your post to give you an accurate answer.

How are the rockers?
Do you need toe boards?
Do you need the convertible reinforcement panels?

Is the interior in the car? Does it have an exhaust system installed?
Are you going to go with a 1 piece floor pan or are you going to patch what you already have?

I know there much of a 1st gen crowd here. But I igured I would start here. I will join Camaro.net an see if they have any input.

As for additional information I will try to explain as best I can.

The car belongs to my father in NY. He is looking to replace the floors. I really dont know how bad the rockers are. I know there is some surface rust but dont know the extent. I understand the toe boards and Conv. Reinf. Panels are ok. I believe he wants to go with the 2 piece pans(left & right). As it is now the car is a complete driver.

The reason we asked for a figure is that he got a quote for $3000 to just do the install. He would have to provide the pans as well are remove and reinstall the interior. also transport the car to and from the shop without the interior. He was a little surprised at the high cost of just the installation. We just wanted to confirm that it was infact reasonable.

That sounds about right if its a good shop doing a nice job.

They're going to have to cut out the old metal, then plug weld the entire perimeter of the new pieces, seam seal them, then make the bottom look as good as the top. Lots of grinding/welding/work going into it.

If you knew what I spent on sheet metal work so far on my 68 you'd cry....
