rear window defrost wont work
rear window defrost wont work
ever since i bought my 95 z a few yrs ago i havent had rear defrost and its been a pain to back up when its cold outside. i live in kansas and it snows for like 3 months so i would like some advice on where to start troubleshooting the problem. fuse is still good cause the other functions still work.
Re: rear window defrost wont work
A lot of people, including myself, have had luck by replacing the circuit breaker with a 30 amp fuse. Some others have had the fuse overheat and cause the area around the fuse to melt. If you try this, it's at your own risk. Check the fuse from time to time to see if you are having any problems.
Re: rear window defrost wont work
Mine went out years ago. I specifically remember when it died as well, and it wasn't in the fuse. I saw a glow in my rearview mirror, looked back and saw a glow & slight smoke from where the small box joins to the grid on the rear window. My only guess to fix that problem might be to replace the entire grid on the window, which can't be done without first removing the tint. Might be something to think about as well as you're looking for the problem.

One thing you need to do is check the resistance of the defroster grid. If it's been cut or broken, tint installers do this a lot, you may be able to repair it.
