Rear Axle Lubricant Change Interval?

Rear Axle Lubricant Change Interval?
How often should the rear axle lubricant and limited slip additive changed? My chiltons manual recommends every 7,500 miles. That seems excessive to me.

Isn't that almost twice a edit: YEAR for a daily driver? Dayum!
I would think that changing the fluid more often would be the reason of having a manual tranny and that your beating the living crap out of it...especially after throwing gears like 4.10's or something.
