Thumbs up Rear Axle Bump Stops

Well after 21 years Sara (2001 Z28) bump stops are toast. I am thinking of replacing them with the polyurathane stops, and would like your opinions on why to use or not to use them.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Rear Axle Bump Stops

Just get the 18271.07 axle snubbers made for a Jeep but fit the F-Body. They're rubber and cheap ($5-$6 each). I think the polyurethane will make for a harsher ride vs. rubber. I run the rubber ones on mine and they work great!

Re: Rear Axle Bump Stops

Sam Strano tested poly, GM foam, and rubber. He comments on stiffness. Seems to me they really only come into play with extreme vertical compression, or severe body roll. I doubt they play much part in non-extreme driving, unless severely overloading the rear seats and hatch area. But that's just a guess. After 27 years my stock GM foam was still intact, so I doubt they ever came into play with the car's fairly extreme drag track use.

The study only shows up when you see the “Announcements” when you first open his site, or there's a place to pull up the Announcements on the blue band at the top of the page.

Re: Rear Axle Bump Stops

Thank you all for the input, I am going to go with the poly mounts, with the extended jounces that SLP uses. My vehicle is stock height with 18" wheels.
