Radiator Support Help

I need to remove this.

First, what would be the best way to remove the spot welds? I heard there was a tool that could do it pretty easy.

And I have a 95 camaro side by side to my 99, and I can't tell a difference between a 93-97 support and a 98-02, except for a few easily changeable things.

If I could use the older one, I'd save about 400$

You have to drill them, and then use the tool to cut the welds. Eastwood sells the tool(I think)and it chucks into your drill also. If you don't mind a little more welding you can just drill each weld out without the tool.

Re: Radiator Support Help

Thanks Iroc, so I drill a small hole in each spot weld and the tool cuts them free? I'll try eastwood's site, but I'm rushed for time.

Anyone know what the differences are between the two supports? I only see the difference were the upper piece goes. (there are bolts on the 93-97 and studs on the 98-02, easily fixed) other than that, don't see any at all. But yet they are listed as different.

The car goes to the body/frame shop on wednesday, and if I indeed need a new support, I'll need a way to remove mine, or have the guy come and cut mine free.

.

Yes that is how they work. I have an old Eastwood catologe here an the part numbers are as follows:19068 Spot weld cutter Assm. 3/8" $14.99, :19068B is replacement cutter 3/8" $4.99,and :19068C is a kit containing replacement cutters and a pilot $10.99. There is a 1/2" cutter also :19052 $10.99 but don't think you'll need it,just deppends if you like tools. You might check your local tool stores, automotive and paint stores, and places like NAPA someone may carry them. Ask at some body shops, but they probably get them from Eastwood or Snap-on. Good luck with your project.
