Radiator leak

My radiator has cracked a couple inches below the radiator cap, on the radiator tank. I see that the tanks can be replaced for about 1/2 the cost of a new radiator? Should I just have a shop do the tanks, or buy a new radiator and do it myself?

I'd like to save the money if the tanks are cheaper because I still have to replace my steering rack, but if its not worth just fixing the tank, Ill have to delay the steering rack replacement.

well I went ahead and bought a new radiator from OReilly's Autoparts. Part # 432399. It was 99% similar, the only difference I noticed was the original radiator had a support for the A/C condenser line @ the bottom, this new one didn't, I dont think this will be a problem as the line is hard to move by itself anyway. I replaced the radiator myself for the experience, the condenser was hard too unhook from the tabs on the radiator, but now that i know how to do it, if I ever have to replace the radiator again it'll be a much faster job

were the fins on the old radiator pretty beat up and gouged? i wonder how much that affects its ability to cool the coolant in summer. i almost want to replace the radiator on my ride just to have a fresh set of straight fins

the fins were fine, most of the radiator was clean, except for the fins around one of my Fans, it had a bunch of feathers and grass leaves stuck inbetween the fins.
