Radiator

Hey guys, I just got a new radiator installed on my 93 z28, got it back yesterday and everything has been fine. On my way to work this morning I noticed a light came on, it was just underneath the speedo km's, it's a little box which looks like water at the bottem (red)? I don't have my manual otherwise I would have looked at but is this the rad light coming on? And if so why would it be coming on?

Re: Radiator

Every once in a while my '93 does the same..... I just wait for the rad to cool and open the cap... I'm usually just a pint/quart low... Guess it evaporates.....

Or it might be your low washer fluid light......

Re: Radiator

It's the low coolant light and it is common for it to act up. Check your coolant level in the radiator when the engine is cold, making sure it is at the top. Monitor the light and see what it does for a few days or week. It is not uncommon for it to come on after a drain and refill. It might settle down.

Re: Radiator

You also might still have some air in your cooling system.

Re: Radiator

When the coolong system is dry, you add coolant into the radiator, then into the coolant tank. But once you run the motor, the thermostat will open once the motor gets warm. This lets the coolant flow into the motor, and cool it off, thus it took some fluid out of the radiatior, which took it from the coolant tank, now you coolant tank is low, or empty. The dashlight you speak of will then come on because there isn't enough coolant to fill the motor, radiator, and coolant tank. So, if whoever installed your radiator did not wait for the coolant to cycle, the light will later come on. So you coolant tank just needs alittle Dexcool and water.
