Quick General Question About Headers...

I need to take off my driver's side header to repair a crack and I need to know if I can take it out myself.

Does anyone know if each header is welded to the Y-pipe, and if so, can they be re-used if they are cut off at the weld?

Oh, and I haven't really taken a good look at it or anything, but are Stage 8 locking bolts more difficult to take off than ordinary ones?

These are non ceramic coated headers, can anyone give me an estimate on the metal's thickness and which type of wire to use when miging? If need be, I can have a more experienced student do it for me.

Re: Quick General Question About Headers...

I just found a picture after a surprisingly large amount of searching of a stock exhaust manifold showing the connection to the Y-Pipe, and it looks like it's just 2 bolts connecting them, which I remembered while taking them off, but i wasnt sure if headers were different.

Re: Quick General Question About Headers...

Depends on what kind of headers they are. My edelbrocks had two bolts, and my AS&M's have 3. Either way the drivers side is by far the easier side.
