Exclamation Question for those who have replaced window motors.

I just installed two new window motors in my '94... one thing I noticed that I didnt notice previously (motors were never working) is that as the windows are going down the inner door shell pushes/ flexes out a noticible amount. Is this normal and if not what car be done to resolve it...

If you are saying when the window goes up,it doesn't close tight, but extends outward? If thats the case, you need to replace the bottom rail the glass sits in.6years ago the part was $45.00 at the dealer.Hope this helps.Go to Shoeboxes site for pics.My02.

No, what I was trying to explain in my first post is when rolling the window down, the fiberglass inner door shell (where the speaker, inner door handle, etc bolt to) bulges outward (towards the interior of the car). Is this normal

That does not sound normal. I would take off the door interior panel and look for something awry while the window goes up and down.

Sounds to me like the alllignment is not set properly from when you replaced the motor, depending how that install went. I know I ended up having to adjust mine on a few of the ones that have been replaced over the years, and all cars are different, so my suggestion would be to either refer to a chiltons or haynes manual & also pull the door panel and check to make sure proper allignment.

Could you elaborate? theres only 3 bolts / rivets that hold the motor? How could that get screwed up and have how you adjusted them in the past?

The inside of my door has always flexed a little when the window reaches the bottom (seen with the trim panel off). I considered it normal.

What I meant was, for at least one of my window motor replacements, when going through the whole removal and then installation with the new hardware, I had to adjust the actual window twice. Once to access the motor for removal, again to replace.

I have a 2000 SS and my door does the same thing. When the door reaches the bottom the inside panel on the door flexes about 2-3 mm. Its not much at all. When I replaced the window motor I had to drill out the rivits. I didnt put anything back in its place and the window works perfectly. The door did that prior to my motor replacement. Also I have t-tops and the window is lined up perfectly. I have 0 leaks with it. Hope this helps you out.

I've seen this on EVERY car i've replaced motors on (95 camaro, 02 cavalier, 90 mustang, 90 dayton). It's normal. Just make sure you put the spring back in the regulator when you installed the motor... or the motor will die again soon from being overworked putting the window back up.
