Is this the proper way to clean an MAF.

I'm going to remove the ends and clean them with throttle body cleaner (since I am also doing the throttle body)... What about the screen? Can I use a soft bristle tooth brush?

As far as the actual MAF sensor I'm assuming I should get some kind of electronics spray and just spray the hell out of it from a good distance so as not to damage it... and then let it air dry?

Anyone recommend a good cleaner for the sensor part?

Thanks

Chris

The screen is fragile. I would not brush it. Use some spray cleaner. Otherwise, what you are doing sounds ok.

your local parts store will have a maf cleaner spray in it. It is made by crc I believe. Squirt it with that and let it dry.

I would highly suggest not touching the sensor, as shoebox stated, it is very sensitive

Electrical contact cleaner works great also. Just indirectly spray the elements and let it dry.

Thank you for your quick reply.

I was asking about cleaning the screen in the MAF end. Just looking at the actual sensor, I don't know how the intake air doesn't break it apart... let alone actually trying to touch it to clean it. Thank you for the spray cleaner suggestion though.

Thanks I'll be picking some up tomorrow along with some gaskets for my throttle body, since I'm cleaning that as well.

PS: It must be nice to live in TX, I'm so sick of all the rain/snow lately.
