Power Window Motors on e-Bay?
Power Window Motors on e-Bay?
Does anybody on here have any experience (good or bad) with these Power Window Motors as seen on e-Bay?
Damn, I duno bout BOTH for that cheap, but I really need to get me a passenger motor. I've always needed it but didn't feel like doin that much work on my interior. Well now whats a little bit more work lol
Yeah, I have bought 4 different $20-$25 window motors off of ebay. I think 3 of them were from the same company, and the 4th one was a different one. They have all performed just as well as the factory ones for years. The GM ones are a rip off considering how cheep you can get these from companies on ebay. I wouldn't let the price scare you because its so cheep. You can trust me if nothing else, as I have had good luck with all of mine I have bought, installed, and used.
Just make sure to check their online stores out, and check their trader rating. All of the window motors I got were from companies who had a TON of good reviews vs bad ones. And the bad ones were usually like "didn't ship as fast as I thought they would". If they are selling a ton of parts, with no substantial bad reviews, you're going to be fine.
I think the 3 I got were from Auto-parts wholesale or something like that, and the other one was from Auto 1 or something.

I've never read any problems about them (or at least not any more than there have been with others)
Usually the advice has been to get one with a warranty - not that that's something you hope to be replacing often anyway. For that reason, other's prefer stock motors since they are generally the safest purchase, but are also pretty reliable at letting you down eventually.
Still though, I would prefer a warranty from something autozone may offer. You're talking $50 from eBay w/ shipping anyway...
EDIT: didn't realize this was for a PAIR....I would go for it

I checked several on Ebay but I didn't feel like changing the motors every 6 months so I tried not to go the cheapie way. I got mine on Ebay from Brockscamaro (excellent and quick service by the way, I've bought 3 times different parts there) and it cost me about $38, thing is you have to get your own bolts and nuts (about $1.40 at Napa or similar) I just installed it a week ago, it works flawlessly.
Yeah, I just bought two of these from directauto on e-Bay for $43 shipped. This guy was the only one to reply back when I asked him how to redeem the lifetime warranty if I ever needed to. No screws but I have more than enough of those. I'll repost the results when I go to install them. I'll probably do the window relay mod as well.
You guys must have had bad luck. I have bought 4 window motors for like $20 a piece and only paid like $4 shipping for each. Some of these motors have been in my cars for years, and work just as well as the factory ones did before they went out on me. Oh, and all the nuts and bolts were included in my $20 window motors. And one more thing, all of my $20 window motors came with a warranty from the companies as well.
Between the labor and the motor, the dealer wanted well over $300 to replace just one window motor. With shoebox's instructions, I did it myself in an hour, and it cost me only $24. Even the replacements at Autozone cost more than 3 times that.
The choice is yours, but I'm telling you that as long as the seller is reputable, you'll be fine.

I bought my driverside one from autozone because it had a lifetime warranty and autzone will not hassle you about it. I guarantee the ebay warranty is **** so dont buy it because of that. 90% of the time that company will be gone when your motor dies, let alone actually be contactable for the warranty. Its probably some sweatshop in China. I will be buying an ebay one for my passenger side since that one doesnt get used near as much.
I ran two ebay ones in my old firebird for a few months and then I sold it. They seemed to work allright.

These companies deal with making these things (among other auto parts) in sheer volume. They are not making the 85% markup that dealers would be or even a 50% markup like Autozone would. They make very little off the parts but make out in the end because of the amount of them they sell.
I am confident if they have lasted me for years so far, they will continue to do so for many years to come. If not, then I do have the warranty.
