Power widow issue??? Possible motor replacement?

Well last night going down the road, i rolled the windows down, and saw that the passenger side window was going offly slow. .. Went to roll them back up and it went about half way... i tried to pull it up and roll it up at the same time, and didnt work..

Then i turn the car off and turn it back on, and hit the switch, and the window went up a little. I belive when i hit the switches i do hear a little click, so it think it would be the motor??

Opinions?

Also is a power window replace ment, a do it yourself job?? i am a DIY guy, so any help i can get would be great.

Thankyou in advance, Chase

I believe Shoebox has a page on replacement and a "how to" remove the heat thingy that makes them power windows shut off. Both of mine do the same thing, very annoying. I plan on replacing mine asap.

Sounds like you just need a motor replaced.

I once replaced a motor with a brand new one and it actually went slower.
Turned out to be the tracks and the scissor lift mechanism were either gunked up or very dry.
I sprayed white litium grease in the tracks and window went up like it was on the juice.
I have seen many times where the motor is not the problem.

Its easy to replace.

Had the same problem with my wife's 97 and had to have the window motor replaced. Worked perfectly once new motor was installed.

same thing happened to me, same exact symptoms. replace the motor. Shoebox's instructions were great BTW.
