Power seat will not move forward and back.

I have a 95 Camaro. My power seat no longer moves forward and back. When I push the little stalk to move it up and down it still works, just won't move forward and back (does not even make a sound). The two tilt levers also work. I had to unplug the main power supply under the seat that powers everything because it was draining my battery for whatever reason. Anybody know what the problem is? Bad motor? Bad wiring? Thanks.

If it was draining your battery there might be a short somewhere.

Thats what I was afraid of. Is this a common problem? Or is it going to be a struggle to figure it out.

I don't know if it's common, but my power seats haven't had this problem yet. It could be the motor, or it could be the wiring. There's four bolts on the seat track holding the actual track to the seat. Take those off. You'll need to move the seat up and down and such so you can get at the bolts. Or just take it off the floor seat track and all. Anyways, somehow get the motors exposed so you can look at them. Then hook a digital multimeter to the suspected motor, and see if it is drawing voltage when you hit the button. Also check out the wiring around all the motors for cut ends, or bare wires.

Is it a separate motor that moves the seat forward and back which is just hooked up to the same control stalk that moves the seat up and down?

How many connections are there under the seat? I see the main connection from under the rug and then 2 other connections that plug into different motors. Does on motor control the tilt/up&down and the other motor control the forward/back?
