Re: Pontiac GTA?

You either got the 305 TPI or the 350 TPI (more common).

350 ci:
225HP, 330 TQ (1987)
245HP, 345 TQ (1992)

305 ci:
215HP 295 TQ (1987)
230HP 300 TQ (1992)

1/4 mile would have been upper 14's for the 305 and lower 14's for the 350

Depends on the year and engine. Also this was a heavy car with a lot of options in most cases.

Re: Pontiac GTA?

I think the GTA was one of the best looking Fbodies, at least of that era.

Re: Pontiac GTA?

I owned a 1987 GTA for five or so years. It was my first car, bad *** in its day. It was a 350, all GTA's had the 350 except for the 89 anny, it was a V6 turbo. I'll see if I can find some pic's and show you guys.

You get the 305TPI - 5-speed combo in a GTA. Also, I believe the T-top GTA's were all equipped with the 305TPI - auto combo.

At any rate, the GTA's were definitely one of the hottest looking cars of the late eighties.

Re: Pontiac GTA?

Some confusion seems to exist here.

You could get either the 305 or the 350.

T-tops were available in the 350 for some years. But were strongly NOT recommended.

Re: Pontiac GTA?

The 305's where the only ones with the 5-speed right? Something about the 5-speeds not handling the horsepower of the 350.

Re: Pontiac GTA?

my friend had an 87 GTA, he wrapped it around a tree and while i was pulling the tranny out of it (thats where i got my vigilante converter from!!) i looked on the back of the block, it said 5.0L (305) and it was an automatic with no t-tops. he had 4.10 gears, 3000 stall and a hooker cat back. stock air box, he kept up with my stock lt1 until about 60.
