Exclamation POLL SLP LoudMouth Opinions, Had One, Heard One???

I've heard of people taking the LoudMouth off because it was either too loud or because it resonated or something like that.

I'm used to true duals and the Old School stuff with crossovers and headers and such, and love the purr of a truly free flowing exhaust system, but I want to be able to cruise around town and talk to my passenger without having to yell.

But when I get on it I want to hear the awesome growl of my 300hp V8!!!

So, here's my poll, but please chime in with any experience you've had with the LoudMouth personally on your own ride or with others you've heard on others's rides, etc.

I love mine.......It drones a bit when your around 2000 rpms on the freeway but you get used to it. i would get this exhaust again for sure. the ypipe helps alot with making the exhaust have a deeper/louder sound.

I disagree 100%. My buddy has a 2000 Formula with a cutout and our cars sound completely different. Our cars are virtually identical except that i have a lid and he doesnt.

In my opinion the loudmouth sounds the best on a LT1 car. It has a much deeper sound than an LS1.

I love the sound of my LM. Once you get used to the drone(which was a day or two for me) it is the best cat back. I heard most other catbacks and didnt like any of them. None were loud enough or they were too expensive. Stainless with a lifetime warranty, what else do you want?

That brings up another very good question...

Is ayone else running a gutted CAT? I've always taken the time to split the CAT open with an air chisel, remove its guts, and weld it back together. Put the shield back over it, and shazaam! Emissions legal without any restriction!!!

The problem has always been though, it generally echos around inside the big open CAT chamber and makes a noise almost like an exhaust leak. My experience has always been with older ones, like up to the late '80's.

Has anybody done this with and LT1 car's single CAT?

P.S. You say "Old Pickup with GlassPacks" like it's a BAD thing!!!

Whats the rest of the combo?

Maybe I missed it, but a LM with what?

My nearly stock LT1 TA sounded great with a Loudmouth. Little drone, but so what.

Now, went to a hipo 396 LT1 w/ Hooker LTs, cat!, and it was too loud. I mean like even I would have had to agree with a cop if cited for noise. Now, that hadn't happened, yet, but the drone on the interior was too much.
Swapped to a full 3" system with a Spintech Muffler, sounds great, but not too annoying (to me, when driving)

Hope this helps

Does a high flow cat affect sound quality at all?

Also, how would you reduce the amount of drone? Sound proof the trunk?
