passing obd-ii in NY with mods
im near syracuse, ny, not the city
heres my question....
with a 96 z28... im curious in ny what they do in inspection now. do they do a sniffer test?
i realize they plug into the computer, if i use tunercat or lt1edit to stop codes from throwing with a removed air pump egr setup will it be ok or would they pick up on it.
i understand a visual check is done so egr and air pump they might catch anyways.
but would long tube headers be an issue?

if you tune the sensors out it will show and you will fail- obdII is just a sensor test and quick visual- no sniffer-
if you want i can put you in touch with a tuner who can make it so you do pass the test - hes out of buffalo

Maybe, you have to know what to do, and the only way you know if it's right is to take it in for inspection. If it doesn't pass, I think you have just 10 days to pass. So, this is a risky strategy. I'd recommend going to a shop that has the ability to tune your vehicle so it can pass.

newer cars , i forget which years it is , buit im gonna hit a guess, 98-00 can fail 2 of 5 and 01-present (02 in fbody ) can fail 1of 5.

actually iread that 96-2000 u can fail 2 and the rest its one
i guess i was misinformed

so... its depends on how many things you have off- i have EGR, AIR, O2's deleted -
JandJspeedshop in buffalo is the place, but guess he never picked up the software from what im told. if we can get enough guys wanting tunes to chip in im sure we can convince him to get it sooner. i know theres a few of the locals there that want it as well, *cough*bobby*cough*

If you have edit, let him send the email, then talk to the guy on the phone and let him guide you through the changes - pay him for his time and you should both be happy.
