Passenger Side Leaking.

I have a 97 Camaro 3.8 V6 with T-Tops. It rained today and when I looked over, the passenger side closest to the door was plain DRENCHED... It wasn't the T-Tops however because the door and dashboard wasn't wet at all. Where can this leak be coming from and how can I fix it? I'm NOT mechanically inclined so if you start mentioning firewalls and splashgaurds, please inform me as to where they are...

Thanks...

My car has done this twice, I think it was because the window wasn't up all the way.

Re: Passenger Side Leaking.

sometimes the passenger window gets stuck on the seal, and leaves 1/4" or so to still roll up, especially if the motor is starting to go, I'd check there first.

You might want to make sure your door was closed all the way also.

Ditto here, it was an early sign that the power window motor on the pass side was failing - window not all the way up. In my case the car was sitting for several days and had what you might call a lake on the rear floorpan.

I totally understand that, in my case the passenger window does NOT go all the way up and it only leaks a few drops so I'm not bothered.

The Drives side is very tight seal and DOES go all the way up, however it leaks a TON both from the front AND from the rear section of the T top/roof/window area.

Glad my car never sees the rain. An easy fix it to open the door while you're rolling the window up to get that extra little bit out of it, or do the overheat removal fix. I think shoebox's website has it? or someone's... can't remember whose.

My pass side window is definately ready to go, infact so is my driversside. Will that fix change the probability of my needing a new Window Motor?

Re: Passenger Side Leaking.

The "proper" fix to your problem is to replace any weak window motors, clean and lubricate the window tracks and re-adjust them. Shoebox has instruction on his website for how to replace the motors and how to adjust the window tracks.

You can adjust the front and back up-stops.

You can adjust the top of the window in and out.

You can adjust the angle of the window within the door

You can adjust the position of the window front to rear

You can adjust the position of the mirror mount at the front of the door

in response to the question, I've never done it, but people who have say their windows work better than ever, even brand new motors don't compre, but I can't confirm the reliability of these statements.

Re: Passenger Side Leaking.

I dunno about the rest of you.....but I had a lake in my passenger back floor board that you could plainly see and keep a fish in that thing! I had my CD case there and a huge beach towel. Well the CD case works better than a sponge and the towel was completely soaked. What happened was all that week it rained a lot. I'm talking flood levels like 11" i think. It set a new record for our city, so I was driving through some deep **** puddles....sometimes fast

Well I obviously cleaned it up. I took out the 2 passenger seats and pulled up the carpet scrubing it dry and ringed out the wierd cloth padding. I haven't been able to do it yet but I'm pretty sure I know what is doing it!!! Their are 3 gromets on the passenger side floor boards that if you pull em' out...you can see straight to the ground. This is where the water is comming from. The gromets are covering holes that are in the frame and for some dumb reason...in the floor boards too. These holes aren't small either, a lil smaller that a coke can. The first gromet is in front of the hump for the cat. The second is on the rear floor board where if you were sitting in the seat...your left foot would be on it. The third is in the hump where the actual back seat cusion is. I'm going to be sealing those up with RTV silicone when i get time!
