Parts Stores Not Stocking Alternators
Parts Stores Not Stocking Alternators
So I live down in south florida. I called about 15 auto parts stores (advanced auto, Napa, Bennett Auto, Pep Boys, Autozone) to try and find an alternator for my 1993 Z28. Noone had one in stock or could even get one shipped in later today or even over the weekend. The soonest I could get one is from Bennett Auto by tuesday. Anyone else have this kind of trouble finding parts? How do they not carry such a common part that gets replaced?

Maybe the holiday around the corner is backing things up, I don't know?
I never had a problem getting a replacement alternator for my car last year, I even had a couple choices to choose from as well.

I work at NAPA. im SURE napa stocks the alternator, it may have been sold within the last day... Usually we can get a stock item shipped to us the next day, although today being saturday, and the holiday, we also would be unable to get one until tuesday... the average part store will have a couple million dollars worth of "random" parts...
If you're dying for it you could have probably had it rebuilt when you knew it was messed up. It's cheaper and if you get someone that knows what he's doing they can usually do it in a morning. I know my guy rebuilds it with better parts than it had to start with and it costs me somewhere around 70$.
