Re: Optima battiers

I do. I chose it solely because it is 100% sealed. I plan on keeping my car for a very long time and have had corrosion issues with GM batteries in the past. So, when my GM battery got tired. I replaced it with an Optima. The downside is its price, about $120.

Optima specs:

The Optima battery has two distinct advantages over regular batteries. The unique Spiral Cell design rolls the Optima's six cells into a cylinder. This keeps the plates covered with acid at all times, and helps the battery survive vibration-intense environments, like race vehicles.

The Optima offers 750 cold-cranking amps and a 104 minute reserve capacity. The zero-maintenance battery is 100 percent sealed and has been tested to provide over 9,000 starts. The Optima can be installed in any position and can be stored up to two years.

Length: 10 in.
Width: 6.8 in.
Height: 7.8 in.

When my alternator died it still gave me about 15 minutes of driving before the car finally went.

Re: Optima battiers

I ues the Yellow top.

Specs:
The OPTIMA YellowTop

Demand more from your vehicle? Then get more from your battery. OPTIMA YellowTop batteries are made for the extremes. If you have an extreme vehicle, you expect high performance. Whether your vehicle is made to take the abuse of off-road driving or cranking out decibels, you need more from your battery. OPTIMA batteries with patented SPIRALCELL® Technology deliver that performance. The deep cycle characteristic of this technology coupled with its extreme resistance to vibration provides performance vehicles with the repetitive power they need in a spill-proof package.

If your vehicle has a lot of accessories like running lights, high-performance stereo/AV system, winches, or hydraulics, your vehicle demands more from its battery. OPTIMA YellowTOP batteries provide the extra performance and deep cycling capability that your vehicle demands.

Re: Optima battiers

i got a redtop because i got tired of having to jump the car after listening to the radio while washing / detailing the car all day.

normal batteries in my experience after a year or so start to get too tired to run the radio / etc all day while detailing, but my redtop hasn't had a problem at all.

unless you have some reason like that, there really is no reason to not get a normal battery ... except for the leakage of course.

If it will fit you will do fine, but it is a larger batter than the Group 75 that came in the car.

I've got one also. It's an awesome battery. I got mine for somewhere around $90 off an ebay dealer.

Re: Optima battiers

I use a red top. I made the mistake of letting it run dead in the winter. We think it froze and then one of the cells cracked. Fortunately, it was less than a year or whatever the Autozone warranty is, and they gave me a new one. Spent another 50 bucks on a trickle charger, no problems since.

Re: Optima battiers

I run a Yellow-top. It's a great battery. I probably wouldn't ahve spent my money personally ('cause I'm a poor 15 yr old) but it came with the car and I love to be able to listen to the radio all day as I work on the car.
