Old bird starting to show her age
My 1993 Firebird Formula (LT1 A4) just reached 198K, and in no time will hit the 200 plateau. The car has been pretty good to me in the 2+ years I have owned and operated it as my daily driver.
The point of this thread is, I was just wondering what services (rad flush, engine flush, trans service) I should consider a priority with the kilometres starting to pile up in order to keep the car running well. The repairs/modifications I have done since owning it are as follow:
- Replaced fuel pump last summer
- New engine mount (about year and a half ago)
- Previous owner replaced the distributor cap... can't exactly remember, but have all receipts.
- New front brake pads, calipers, and rotors (back need to be done shortly)
I haven't had to change the spark plugs, had a tune-up or flushed out the rad/engine sinec owning the car. I get the car serviced (oil change, fluids checked, tire pressure) every 5000K.

Suspension bushings (swaybar endlinks are usually toast if theyve never been replaced) Control Arm Bushings as well. Tune up would definatly be a good idea. Opti i would only change if its exhibiting issues, same goes for the waterpump.

When mine started getting weird electrical gremlins I eventually just replaced all the electrical crap on the car. Makes troubleshooting stuff down the road much easier since you can eliminate most of that.

hows all the weatherstripping holding up? and various interior pieces?
I guess if you really cared, you could also check if all the various drainage vents are still open, and if there's any rust developing underneat the carpet and under the car.
suspension bits, steering linkage, front hubs.. bearings out back in the rear? Next time you do brakes check how they look.
