is it ok to mix oils?

I'm a little low on oil and don't have time to go to the store before work. Is it ok to put dino oil in with Mobil1 10-30 syn. till tomorrow, about a quart worth?

yea
actually when some people switch to synthetic, they do it gradually
1 qt syn, 4 dino
next change
2 qt syn 3 dino, etc.

It won't hurt anything if you need to mix the two in a pinch.

Mixing them when doing a fresh oil change defeats the purpose a bit. Essentially a home-made synthetic blend.

I don't mix brands but I do mix weights, 2 of 5w30, 2 of 10w30 and 1 of 10w40 all castrol syntec.

I don't mix oil brands or weights, I have enough on hand for the different rigs I have, just my prefference, But, it would not hurt to mix brands at all, they have to meet a certian spec, I would look at it this way, ANY oil, is better than no oil, or low on oil, just my .02
