The offset of the stock Z28 pipes (95)

On my 95 Z28 the exhaust system requires an offset exhaust tip...or the tips would be off to one side

how are aftermarket (catback) systems routed differently so the pipes arent off to one side? or are they?

If the aftermarket catbacks dont have to use a offset then why does the stock system...it's all routed the same way basically

on catbacks it is all in how much tubing there is between the outlet of the muffler and the 90* bend to go to the tip.

not sure why GM did that offset, but on my 99, both tips are ofset the same way...so they are identical. not one offset to the left and one to the right. i guess this is so they only have to stamp one instead of two.

I appreciate the answer...hey as long as the catbacks don't have that crazy offset pipe...It's good

I was looking through a bunch of Z28's on Cardomain and saw some that had straight-tips on them, and both pipes/tips were off to one side if you look at the rear of the car...I am sure no aftermarket catback is like that...and they just put some tips on the stock system or something.

have a good one

i'm honestly not sure if all catbacks are "corrected" for the offset.

if i remember correctly, my magnaflow was offset to the driverside a little, i figured it was becaue it was installed on 2 previous cars.

it may have something to do with the way the underside of the car is with the trunk-hole or gas thank.
