Unhappy Offically Retired!!

Well, its been fun, but I have officially retired as an SS owner.. I sold my 99 SS with 15000 miles on it today... it sure was a beauty, but I am on to bigger and better things... making reference to the C5 I am about to purchase... (hopefully)...

Well my 99 SS was a stepping stone to my C5... it made me appreciate the beautiful thing that is the LS1!!...

Those of you that have ill feelings towards the C5... Im sorry, it has been my life long dream...

It was a short career with my SS, but one that I will remember all my life...

Thanks z28'rs

Congratulations!

That is really cool, vettes are awesome.

Out of curiousity, is it true vette insurance is cheaper then a comparable F-body?

I checked out of curiousity on the insurance issue. It was true for me. I have a 95' Z so I checked on a 95' Vette. Kept everything exactly the same on the coverage. At that time switching to a vette would have saved me about $400 bucks every 6 months. The main reason I guess is claimes. Although vettes cost more to fix if given similar damage to an F-body the overall amount of claims are substantially less. Therefore it's considered less of a liability. I guess the average driver for a vette is a 53 year old white male. All stereotypes aside supposedly they are considered much more of a safe driver than a typical F-body owner. Which averages in ages 20-30 and mostly male drivers as well. I'm not saying they ARE safer drivers, that's just what the insurance records show. Seems pretty logical to me.

Exactly. I also checked with my company to campare my 99TA to a 2001 Z06 or a 2001 Viper. I my TA costs me about $500 a year more than both.

A friend of mine sold his 99 V6 mustang for an 03 Corvette and actually pays less on insurance.

Ha, yeah its true, every time I see a Vette, there is almost ALWAYS a middle aged white man or woman in there driving 30 miles an hour, clueless as to whats under the hood.. except that it makes them feel "young again"..

As for the insurance.. I heard that as well, I was told by someone, along with the other explanation, that the Vettes have more and better safety features.. though I don't have a clue what they are... I guess made safer, better impact tests? dunno.. but it should be nice if they are cheaper.

Stinks don't it? You get the less expensive car with the detuned power plant and yet your insurance costs more. What a rip.

Oh well, I'll get mine before I start geting white hairs. Going to look for a sport bike pretty soon since gas prices are increasing faster than the summer temps around here.

Thumbs up

Well, I think I found one, its a 1997 Silver/tan C5.... 32000 miles, all recall work allready done, fuel filter changed, new sparks, plugs, and wires... chrome wheels... pictures in a few minutes.... let me know what you think please... I have yet to buy it.. price is firm at $23k

retail KBB is at $24k, and seeing prices the way they are on C5's its not a bad price.. most are going for above KBB... thoughts?

Here is a link to the thing...

Well, they are not as bad as you think.. that is why I got rid of mY SS and picked up a C5... I had a 60 month lease on the SS, was paying about 360 /month for it... I pick up this C5 which is about $6-7k more and get it on an 84 month loan.. and am paying about 375 / month... so not that bad.. albeit I will be paying on it for 2 more years and will have less equity in it.. but hey... ITS A VETTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I aint gonna sell it!
