On/Off Rubbing noise when making right turns.

Ive noticed that once the car warms up a lot and you make very slow right turns it makes a wierd noise kinda of like a deep rubbing noise. I noticed my power steering fluid level was down way below the dip stick so I refilled it, and about a week later it still doesnt seem like its gone down anymore. Any ideas? I did notice that one of the rubber boots on the steering rack seemed to have some kind of oil on the bottom of it. Don't know what it is.

You sure its not coming from the rear end or a wheel bearing? If it happens when you have turned the wheels and are moving forward then its most likely not from the steering components but rather from a "moving" component such as wheels, wheel bearings or something in your rear end when there is "pressure" being applied. Hope this helps.

It seems to be doing it more often now, When just taking normal gradual turns at like 25mph I can hear it. It sounds like its coming from the from the rear but it is hard to tell. Would a steering rack make noise all the time if it was out/leaking?

Anyone have some tests I can do to eliminate things? I only hear it during turns.

Do you have oversized tires? It could be the tires rubbing.

I dont know if you have them but the mudflaps on my front right tire was rubbing cuz a screw popped out a bit, needed an alignment too so the tire was already close to the mudflap.

Oh ****. Excellent point. I took all that plastic shielding in the fender well apart not too long ago to put my cai in. I just went to go look at it and the screw which is suppose to hold it is loose. Thanks a ton man. I hope this is the problem.

I had what you're describing and I thought it was coming from the right front but it was really coming from the rear.

Turns out my E-brake cable was rubbin on the inside of the rear wheel occasionally on turns.........my mechanic brought it back out of the way of the wheel and I haven't heard it since. Worth checking out.

Ya I thought it was the fender stuff, but I fixed that and its still there. Its hard to tell where its coming from. I have a broken rear shock tho which needs replacing, I am going to do it this weekend. Dont know how that could cause it hto.
