Is This Normal?

Might be a dumb question, but it just didn't seem like it did this before I replaced and fixed things. Maybe it's just finally healthy, but...

When it hits 2nd or 3rd gear (not sure which), it pulls really hard and RPMS get to 5 or 6k in the beginning of the gear and fall back down quickly. And it makes a short burst of sound like a loud roar, which actually sounds kinda nice. This only happens when I push it to half throttle or beyond, sometimes a little less than half.

Is this just some restored power, or are my shift points off?

Re: Is This Normal?

It revs high after shift then goes back down while in the same gear?

Yes, Immidiately after the shift. I think I might post a video soon of the speedo and the sound of it.

Re: Is This Normal?

It sounds like your RPM is going up, but the car isn't accelerating anymore. As if the car is in neutral and free-rev's then when it gets in the next gear the RPM goes to where it should be.

If this is the case, your transmission is slipping.

Re: Is This Normal?

God dammit.

Can anyone tell me what the name of my tranny is so I can look into how much a new one costs? It's an auto. I think it's 700R4, but I need verification.

Thanks.

Re: Is This Normal?

94-02 F-bodies had the 4L60E automatic transmission

Don't freak out too quickly, what exactly did you change/fix, that you mentioned?

Re: Is This Normal?

I restored a fair amount of power when I fixed the oil pressure sending unit, pcv valve harness, and cleaned the throttle body. The biggest gain was from the oil pressure. It started happening a little after I fixed the oil pressure. Actually, now that I think of it, sometimes when I'd pull out of a driveway, or just at a stoplight and would try to go, it would get stuck between gears, climb to mid-high rpms and then when it did shift, I would peel out. But it hasn't done that in a long time.

Re: Is This Normal?

Yea that doesn't seem to be normal IMO. My guess is somethings wrong with the transmission. Sorry bro.
