Is this normal?

Hi guys
I have a 94 T/A A4. And well when I start the car after it's cold the car idle's around 1100 to 1200rpm and the fuel pressure is around 60psi. Also when the car warms up and the fuel pressure goes down to 40psi the rpm drops to the regular spot. I live in NJ so it's really cold out side. The temp is in 30-40F slowly getting better. So this is normal right? I just wanted to find out. Thank you in advance for all the help and suggestions.

Re: Is this normal?

Your fuel pressure won't vary by temp. Should be 40 at idle...all the time...I live in MA and it's probly colder here and mine stays constant.

Re: Is this normal?

Sorry about that. I meant Oil pressure. At cold start it's at 60 psi and then when it comes down to 40 psi the engine start ideling under 1000rpm. This is normal right.

Re: Is this normal?

Thats high compared to mine and my friends 95s. At idle we are at about 20-25 and on the gas its 40.

Re: Is this normal?

The high idle at start-up is normal ... it's to help it warm up quicker. If it never slowed down, then you'd have a problem.

Re: Is this normal?

The high cold idle and cold oil contribute to the higher cold oil pressure. My '94 does the same at about the same pressures. It's normal.

Re: Is this normal?

Normal, cold start-ups. The engine basically limps the mixture should be until the O2 sensors warmup and the comp goes into closed loop, and it has nothing to really compare the intake air volume to (ehx wise). O2 sensors warm up and start sending signals at 700*F, in a V8 or V6 the warm up pretty quick.
