Question no start

If the resistor in the key is not the right one, will you be able to turn the key in the ignition at all? I can turn my key and the gauges all come on, except the engine will not crank. Oh it's a 1994 Z28. Thanks

That is true. If you get the wrong value key, the key can still turn the ignition on and everything would still function like normal except the car won't start. Did you just buy a new key?

Yes, I bought a new key and installed a new switch.

Did you get the old key tested to see which resistor it had?

Question no start

I didnt get the key with the car when I bought it. I took the title to the chevy dealership and they got me a set of keys for the car. When I tried the new key in the ignition, it would not unlock the cylinder. I had already bought a new cylinder so I went ahead and put it in. Tried the new key in the new cylinder, and it would unlock the cylinder, but would not crank the engine. I went back to the dealership today, and they said it was a code 2 for the vats, and that is what the key ohms out to. I dont know whats going on?????? I guess I should find where I can get me some resistors, and connect them in between the cylider and the vats.
