no heat, heater core ok

Ok, so I've read alot of threads about the heater core. I disconnected both heater hoses from the pump and flushed with a water hose. I had good flow in and out I didnt see much crud if any. I refilled the system tried to bleed as much air as I could, the low fluid light came on and went off as i filled it up. I also changed the thermostat ( stock 180). The car seems to run cool and still doesnt seem to heat up inside. I checked the hoses they really dont seem to get hot but i wanted to make sure the trap door is operating.

I can feel a big diff in the air flow when i go from cold to hot on the dash control. The flow is much less in the hot range. I seem to have vacum as it will change from the various vents. Can I see the flap door from under the dash or do i have to start taking the dash apart?

Any suggestions, My kid is freezing what am i missing ?

Brian,

Went through the same thing w/ my 94 ~ the coolant flows good in & out of the heater core, ~ looked nice & clean ~ but does not flow across the core ~ the fintubes inside are blocked (this is where the air blows across to move the heat). Changed the core out & it works fine. I swear by Dexcool ~ but the one thing it reacted bad with was the heater core. After I did the change out ~ the one thing I thought was could I have disconnected the heater core , added some cleaner & flushed it out in the car ~ may be worth a try? Prob. easier to change it out?
