Well it's summertime.... that means the Spring problems have been fixed and now the summertime issues have arrived... this time first up is NO A/C .... WTF? I turn it on...and I feel warm air... actually I feel what ever temperature it is outside blowing in the car... also I"ve noticed that when I turn my A/C on sometimes I smell an oder that smells like a clutch burning out or somehting???
I have no clue when it comes to A/C ideas, hint's, tips, tricks. thanks...

When is the last time you used the A/C?

A small leak over time would empty the system. Walmart has a recharge kit complete with guage and R134 for $24!

The good news: the compressor won't spin if there is no refrigerant! When you put in some R134, the system will operate (assuming you don't have a bad leak that lets it all back out).

Ye...I tried that before... but I don't think the refridgerent (speeling) was going in becasue the Compresser wasn't turning... what do I do? I"m so busy finishing up the steering and suspension I don't think I have time to research and fool around with it... how do you check for a leak?

Mine was seized last year as well. I bought a rebuilt one from autozone (like $240), took me a long time to decide on where and which one to buy. I didn't wanna have to do it again. But I changed it in about 3 hours, it really wasn't as bad as I was expecting. I did almost everything from below. Hardest thing is getting the single bolt holding the two lines in the back of the compressor. After that, go somewhere to fill it up and it was ice cold all summer. It better work this summer.....

Your cars have a clutch cycling switch.... Shoot a can of r134 and see if the a/c engages, if not, it could be the switch....Its located on the passenger side close to the strut mount....

The compressor will still spin if there is no refrigerant...the clutch just will not engage. If the compressor doesn't spin it will ruin the accessory belt, no?

yea, but I don't think that's the case. He would have stated that. You can jump the pressure switch to see if the system is working. Remove the switch plug that is located on the passenger side shock tower. You will see three connectors inside. Connect the top of the "triangle" with one bottom side at a time. One side will trigger the compressor. Don't let it run for long as you will burn it up. This will allow you to test the clutch operation and weither or not you should invest in a new pressure switch, leak detection, or compressor.

Good Luck
