new to camaros

Ive been very active in the custom car/truck industry, heres my truck (daily driver) and then my project truck (the ranger) so u know im not a newbie

anyways, i am looking to buy a camaro for a second vehicle/daily driver. Im looking for a 4th gen ls1 (98-02) z28 automatic (it is a daily driver)

so I was curious to get your guys knowledge and input on what to look for when car shopping, for example quarks or problems the various years had or new features/changes the years had

thanks

Re: new to camaros

The 2nd pic looks like that truck would scrape on a cigarette butt! Hopefully you don't intend to slam Camaros like you do these trucks!

If you've done even a little research, you know that there are very few changes from 98-02. You can't perfect perfection... () I went for a 2000+ simply because of the radio controls. I sit so far back in my Camaro as it is; I hate scooting up to fiddle around with the radio. Even then, it's kinda pointless because I plan on going aftermarket/PC.

I've heard rumors of 01-02 cars with LS6 blocks, dunno if it's true but I'm sure someone on the board can verify. I do know that the same year cars did get the LS6 manifolds. Honestly wouldn't be a selling point for me. I just want my (soon to be obsolete) radio controls.

Happy hunting.

Different strokes for different folks.

I dig those trucks especially your daily driver. Bad ***. I've never liked the Rangers, but that's looking pretty impressive.

I had a '65 Chevy stepside i had lowered (just cut the springs, ghetto-fabulous, but it worked). Kinda went for the old school hot rod look, had some steelies with the stainless steel hub caps with fat white wall tires and just a solid gray primer job. Even had the Indian blanket bench seat.

Anyway, there's plenty of threads here to learn what you need to know. Short version, get a 01 or 02 if you can find one (no EGR and the newer intake manifold), but any of the 98 and up models will be awesome.

thanks f or the info on the 98, but i didnt want a 98 as usually the first year of a new gen isnt as good as later models

If you do end up blacking out the wheels on the car you get I'd appreciate it if you could let me know and send some pics. I am contemplating having the wheels on my Z28 (black) refinished in black or a dark grey . . . but I'm concerned about there being too much black

Thanks in advance
