new ac compressor filled with oil and freeon still doesnt work
why is this? i did everything the way i was supposed to. this should work. what else should i get done? i dont wanna pay a million dollars to get this crap fixed.
Re: new ac compressor filled with oil and freeon still doesnt work
did you plug the wires back into the clutch? check the relay? did you check the low pressure switch? how many cans of freon and what type?

If the computer detects any fault with the a/c system, low pressure etc, it will not allow the compressor to come on. You need to reset the computer. I was pulling my hair out over something like this at the beginning of the summer. Had about 80psi in the system, above the 45 psi low cutout pressure and the compressor wouldnt turn on, relay was good and all that stuff. I used FreeScan on the car and it showed a demand for the a/c compressor clutch when I turned the switch on, but no engagement. Reset and cleared the a/c codes and she's blowing a frosty 40 degrees after a little more refridgerant.

You need to pump a vac pump on that system before you get the compressor working, if you disconnected any of the lines. Any mosture in the system will cause the oil to act like an acid.

I did pull a vacuum on my system before adding anymore refridgerant - forgot to add that earlier.
In my previous experience with a/c systems, if there is a leak and you have no pressure, you can short out the low pressure cutout switch to make the compressor turn on and pull in freon to get above the minimum system pressure so it'll run on its own. By pulling a vacuum on the system and putting as much of a little can of refridgerant in as would go, I got the high side pressure up to 80 psi. FSM says all you need is 45 psi for the system to come on.
But at any rate, the FSM also says that if you have ANY trouble codes that are a/c related, the system will not come on until the computer is reset. I tried pulling the fuse on the computer and letting it sit overnight (like I've been able to do before) and that didn't do anything for this. I've got one of those AKM OBD I cables I used for my pcm4less tune so I just downloaded FreeScan and used a computer to reset the trouble codes and it worked great.
