Need Key And Ignition Help!!!!

ok so after a long fight with the fuel system and a fuse i get the car running. While trying to find what the starting issue was a did replace the ignition switch, and then i replaced the neutral safety switch, after finding out it wasnt the neutral switch i put the old one back in. Now the car will start and run.

My problem: the key will not turn to the off position so i can take the key out. Please help also my breaks feel alot more squishy if you will. Does that have something to do with the ignition switch, i know the brake safety cable is in right and locked like its supposed to be. where should i start
