Need help w/ AC

Took my car out of storage and the ac doesn't work anymore. Had a friend charge it and the compressor will not kick on. One other thing I noticed my temp gauge stopped working along with the low coolant level. Could either of my gauge malfunctions cause the ac to not work?
A few years ago I had a similar problem where the ac didn't work and someone told me how to force the compressor to run, anyone care to tell me how?
Any help will be greatly appreciated

have you checked the fuses and relay?

Is it getting power to the compressor? Check your hi and low switches.......all ac systems are pretty basic, but hard to diagnose over the net

If you have access to a scanner, check to see if there is a code in the pcm that is preventing the compressor from engaging. Also there is a low pressure sensor that sometimes fails. It's attached to a schrader valve on the ac line right by the passenger side valve cover... This stuff is pretty common.
