Need help. Car will not start.
Im in the process of buying a 97 z28 with an A4. The car is not running and this is word for word what the owner said happend.
" When I bought the car it started just fine, then after a while i had to jiggle the key to get it to start. I would put the key in and turn it, and all the lights would come on, but it wouldnt even attempt to crank over, so i would jiggle the key around and it would start. Finally one day no matter how much jiggling of the key i did, it just would not do anything. Another thing i noticed was that the key cylinder got very loose and would turn even without the key in it"
He then tells me that he put in a new key cylinder that came with new keys "with no pellet in them" and that the problem is just the same. Power to everything, but the car just will not even attempt to start.
One thing he mentioned was that when he took the original key cylinder out, one of the 2 white wires was broken.
Given this info, can anyone help me out with figuring out what the problem is, and what a potential solution might be?
thank you.

It's never going to start with a key that has no pellet. The VATS system won't let it. You need one of the original keys to get the pellet code. Read here about the VATS. You could possibly do a resistor bypass for the pellet and get it running (if that's all that is wrong).
