Need to decide on exhaust

Hey everybody. I have a 1994 Z28 m6 completely stock. What i want is to make it pretty loud but with no power loss.

I was thinking to take it to the muffler shop and have the guy fabricate the rear exhaust system that clamps on to the pipe that turns left right after the rear axle but have him fabricate it with no muffler so i would just be running cat back. I have already unbolted it and drove it around like this and its not too loud.

Either that or just slap on a flowmaster 40 series in place of the stock muffler but i dont want it quiet. I really dont want to change out the stock cat id rather leave that alone.

Any other ideas that u guys have or have had luck with exhausts??

Any other brands like borla or slp good?

Thanks in advance for the help

enh... go to www.lt1engine.com and check out the sound clips.

The Loudmouth seems a little bit on the raspy side in comparison to borla, but that just my opinion

wheres the best place to get loudmouth, and is it from the cat to the back with no muffler? Whats a rough estimate of how much it would be?

flowmaster is one of the most restrictive mufflers you could possably put on a car, slp loudmouth is a great choice and sounds pretty damn good in my opionon, try the loudmouth II if its to loud for your likeing, if your feeling froggy and want some top of the line stuff for $700+ try borla or GMMG, not sure if GMMG makes anything for the 4th gens however

Do i need to get the instalation kit for $75 or i dont need it for my year car? And do you know if i could get the resonator delete with the catback system? Also is it just a bolt on right after the cat or will i have to do some welding?
Thanks a lot

Re: Need to decide on exhaust

You dont need the installation kit if the catback is specified for the year that your car is, the installation kit made it possable to put the catback on newer model 4th gens.
Yes you can get the resonator delete for your catback if you feel like spending way to much cash for just a 3" straightpipe that you could buy somewhere and get welded on for $20 total most likely.
Yes the catback is "bolt on" right after the cat just like any other catback system, its always best to get it welded though if that resource is aviable to you

Re: Need to decide on exhaust

My Z28 is as quiet as a 4-door lexus. Is there any way I can make it give out some noise without compromising on Performance, longevity/well-being of the engine, and with little or no money?

Open to any kind of response. thanks boyz.

Re: Need to decide on exhaust

Of course, the short abrevation for catback is noise... Depending on how much noise you want, slp makes a nice catback called loudmouth, that being at the more noisey level, borla makes fine products for abit more cash and sound beautiful and not just downright anoyyingly loud like the loudmouth, alot of people like magnaflow for the sound and the price, any of the 3 suggested are fine choices

on the gear selector, can you select 1st gear? if you have no "1" on it, congrats you got the ****ty 2.73's
You got me confused on this... I can select first gear, thast how a manual gearbox works and it does have a 1 on it in the little shifting diagram right below the shifter.
