Talking My new SS

Well I can call it new, since it is new to me. I picked this train wreck up from a fellow f-body enthusiast. The price was right (Free) The car has a Texas salvage title, has been stripped of almost all parts. I will have to replace the front subframe, pull the firewall on a frame machine. and repair the back half with new quarters/rear. It is a lot of work, fortunately I have a shell to take parts from. Since this is the year the SS was reborn, I thought this would make an interesting project. I know that since its a salvage it will not be worth as much as a clean SS, but that does not matter to me. I want to give it life, and my 383 that has been waiting for a new home for a while now.

Since it will need so much time and effort, I will not set a date on when i will have it finished. Anybody that has parts laying around that they dont need/want, donations will be accepted. As you can see from the pics it needs a lot.

Well off to put her up on jack stands and clean it out, the I will throw a tarp over her to keep out the elements.

Wow thanks for all the support in here guys, the post i threw up in the lounge got a lot of WTF are u thinking mentality. I have 4 doors, 2 hatches, a complete shell with 80 % of the interior, and all the necessary sheet metal/sub-frame components to segment the car back together,

I have a friend that owns a shop that does rebuilds for fleet customers. he will piece the 2 car's back together. The SS is not too bad the frame needs about 2 inches of pull in the drivers floor board area. After that the whole sub-frame can be cut and replaced with the sub-frame from the donor car. Then on to the Q panels.

The planned rebuild will not be back to factory or SS show room, I want a street/strip machine. 475-500 rwhp N/A with a healthy dose of spray to get that 700+ HP. 8-Point Cage, 4-link rear, sub-frame connectors, and drag suspension. I want this thing to drive and launch straight as hell. Since we do not have emissions here in FL, I am hoping to get this done before that changes.

I will freshen up the 383 with all new bearings, rings, and a bad *** set of AFR heads this time around. I will have to paint this thing Hugger Orange when I am done...I keep getting visions of a certain hugger orange 69 flashing through my minds eye. Seriously, send me some parts you can be included in the rebirth of this 1 of 831 red 1996 LT1 Super Sports !

wow, that's a serious project.
That thing is going to rock when you get done

I'm glad you are using a wreck to build a drag car, rather than taking a rare, stock and orginal SS and chopping it up into a drag car.
