my iroc wont quit running!

hey. My 89 iroc camaro has a 350 TBI and it starts and runs fun, but when i turn the key to shut it off, the car contenues to run. but al the interior elctronics and everything go off as normal. i end up having to stall it to get it to shut off, any ideas on what could be causing this would be appreciated.

Well if it keeps running that means its still getting fuel and spark. See if the two systems run off the same fuse or relay etc. Its probly an electrical problem.

Re: my iroc wont quit running!

used to happen to my buddies car, ur car is actually doing what i called deiseling where the temperatures in the cylinders are getting so hott that ur fuel ignites without spark just by pure compression , it keeps runnig till all the gas is used up in the cylinders

this is usually a timeing problem , i think its b/c ur timeing is retarded to much

just a thought

Does it run normally, or does it miss and sputter?

If it continues to run normally, you most likely have a problem with the ignition switch.

Does it have any type auto start feature with an alarm?? If not Id bet on it being the ignition needing to be replaced. Alot of the time the ignition wont go all the way to the point where it breaks the connection.
