my car is ticking?

My car is making a weird ticking sound in the exhaust somewhere. It's on a 94 single cat Trans Am. The sound seems to be coming from where the Y-pipe and cat meet or from the cat itself. The sound stops when the car is revved but when it is just idling the sound gets pretty annoying. What do you guys think? A hole in the exhaust or a bad cat? I've never had a bad cat before so I don't know if it makes a ticking sound.

First, do not tell the police. Per the patriot act, they have to remotely detonate it.

Second, do you live somewhere cold now? Look closely and you may find it steaming from the leak. Or, feel for the exhaust puff with your hand, preferably when it's not burning hot.

Sounds like an exhaust leak. Get under there and poke around, I'm sure you'll notice it easy. Jack the car up and make sure you put some jack stands under it to unless you like to be crushed.
