Is my car odly optioned?

OK its a 95z m6, leather, ttops power seats, bose all that crap. But it has the all season package i guess you'd call it. It came with V rated tires, undercoating, a block heater plug in and a 180km/h speedo but no traction control which i think was a new option in 95. So is it just me or is it wierd to have this mix of winter stuff plus m6 with no traction control?

If the car is from the colder climates like British Columbia, then I'd imagine things like block heaters (great for starting on really cold mornings) and undercoating (to protect against road salt rusting the car away) would be fairly standard. I believe the Z-28's only got the higher rated speedometers when you optioned for the Z rated tires, so that's not unusual.

I don't think it is that unusual, the block heater and undercoating could have just been add-ons sold and installed by the dealership. The previous owner of my car had the undercoating applied from the dealership before he took delivery of the car.

My '02 Z came with a block heater from the factory, I think GM does that with just about everything delivered in Canada . . . as for the undercoating as far as I know it wasn't a factory option, but the previous owner may have had it done at the dealership or any number of other places

I ordered my Z without traction control, i didn't think it was necessary in a car that was only going to summer driven - so maybe that's not so unusual either

As for the speedo as Shock said above I'm pretty sure that if you didn't get the Z-rated tires as option from the factory then you got the 180 km/h speedo . . . I ordered my Z with the z-rated tires

Yep, that 180 km gauge is one of GM's odd moves. Especially considering that the V6's came with 200 km gauges. Generally the M6's came with the Z rated tires and 240 gauge. Although I have seen one that came with the 180. (Grey-green '94 Z28)

The speed limiter in the 180 gauge cars was interesting. Nothing like topping out the car at 104 mph at 4000 RPM in 3rd gear. (auto with 2.73's)

The block heater is great. Use it anytime it's below freezing outside. If you store your car through the winter, plug it in before you start it for the first time. An hour will give you warm coolant and warm oil.

Really? Now that is strange. I guess they figure it never rains or gets cold and damp in the UK.

My 96 lacks a rear defroster too. Don't see many cars like that.

First the 96 z28 was the first to have traction control(also very intrusive!) and your car came w/235 55 r 16 tires stk(s speed rating) You can also check your options decal and the code for traction control is NW9 and your tire decal on drivers door will have what was factory installed. Also the 245 50 16 gsc or rsa tires are z rated.BTW another way to see if traction control is there look on drivers v/c ,if there is a blk box there it has it,hope this helps.

The 96 Z28 was not the first to have traction control,my 95 has it and it's not intrusive as I can switch it on and off with the ASR (anti slip regulator) button under the cigarette lighter . .
