I have been looking constantly for used z28's, i want a 98 and up just because i love the way they look and like the performance and flexibility of a LS1. I found a 1998 Z28 Red, T tops, automatic, with the sports appearance package, looks extremely nice and is in great appearance, exterior, condition.

I was just wondering..what problems would i face with it's motor? It's a stock motor that has 175K miles on it...Is it even worth it? Will it still run strong? still be fast? how much slower if so? Have to replace the whole motor? Tranny?

honestly, 98s are the lest desired for modding, as the PCM and other things are 98 only, and not the greatest

oh 98's are bad for modding? well what years are good for modding? 01-02?
and i'm not looking for THAT fast of a car, just a low 13 second, high 12 second car MAYBE. i want it to be a street car that can go to the strip also and be a daily driver

Any LS1 F-Body will do just fine for what you're looking for. Mid to low 13's can be had stock, high 12's are only a few mods away. 175k is a lot miles, I'd probably look for something with a lot less miles unless you're just getting a hell of a deal for it. It won't be long before the trans goes, then the rear, suspension, etc. Ask some of the sponsors or your local shops to see what an engine and trans rebuild would cost just so you know how much you're going to be spending.
